Former Super Eagles assistant coach, Joe Erico has urged the Super Eagles to improve on their game when they file out against the Wasps of Rwanda in the  return leg of the 2013 African Cup of Nations qualifier at the U.J. Esuene Stadium in Calabar today.
Erico told Saturday Vanguard Sports in an exclusive interview in Lagos that the 1-1 draw against the Flames of Malawi in Blantyre was a sign of improvement on the team’s part.

He hinted that if the players could play the way they played against Namibia in Calabar and Malawi in Blantyre, the Eagles would excel beyond expectation, adding that when a coach is building a new team, there is always an ups and downs situation.
“If our guys should play the way they did against Namibia and Malawi, really we are going to excel. We need the victory which I believe we are going to get on Saturday  (today) against the Wasps of Rwanda in Calabar.
“We should stop saying that we manage to draw against Malawi, I will not subscribe to that. We created a lot of chances in our previous matches but we missed them and that is what the game is all about.
I will not subscribe to a situation whereby people will say we managed to win or draw. This is a team that Keshi is trying to mold into a solid team. The present Eagles are not all about connection but merit,” Erico said.
The Former Nigerian goalkeeper who pleaded on behalf of Vincent Enyeama urged Nigerians to overlook his mistake that denied the country the  maximum three points against the Flames of Malawi in Blantyre last Saturday.
“Mistakes are bound to happen, it is not his wish to allow the ball in, but all the same he has seen and will correct his mistakes that denied Nigeria the maximum points against Malawi”,Erico stressed.
